Limon is definitely worth checking out. To get there, you can fly into Limon’s small international airport, which is pretty convenient. If you’re coming from San Jose, it’s about a 2.5-hour drive or a bus ride. The journey offers some stunning views of the countryside and coastline.

Tips to visit Limon

Limon, where locals are called “Limoneños,” is a cool city with its own unique charm. When you meet someone, a friendly “Hola” or “¿Cómo estás?” will do the trick.

Spanish is the main language, but you might also hear English and some Creole around town. People usually grab lunch around 12-1 PM and have dinner from 7-9 PM. Business hours typically run from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday.

Tipping is customary, and around 10% is appreciated. The health system here includes both public and private options, with private clinics often being preferred for quicker service. Dress code is pretty casual; think comfy clothes for the day and a bit more polished for the evening. Locals often use expressions like “¡Qué chévere!” to say something is cool or awesome.
