Singapore

Singapore is a bustling city-state located at the tip of the Malay Peninsula. With a population of around 5.7 million people, it’s a global hub of culture and commerce. The climate here is consistently tropical, with temperatures usually ranging between 25°C (77°F) and 31°C (88°F) year-round.

The city welcomes millions of tourists each year who come to explore its blend of modern skyscrapers and lush green spaces. It’s known for its clean streets, diverse food scene, and unique attractions.

The best time to visit is during the cool, dry season from February to April when the weather is a bit more comfortable and there’s less rain. Whether you’re into shopping, food, or just exploring the city’s diverse neighborhoods, Singapore offers a lot to see and do.

Tips to visit Singapore

In Singapore, locals are known as Singaporeans. When greeting someone, a casual “Hello” works perfectly, but you might also hear “Hi” or “Good morning” depending on the time of day.

The main languages spoken here are English, Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil. English is widely used in business and everyday conversation, so you’ll get by easily.

People usually eat breakfast around 7-9 AM, lunch from 12-1 PM, and dinner between 7-9 PM. Business hours are typically from 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday, with some shops and restaurants open later.

Tipping isn’t a common practice in Singapore—just round up your bill if you want. The healthcare system is modern and efficient, with both public and private options available. Dress code is casual but neat, and locals often use expressions like “Kiasu” (fear of losing out) to describe their competitive nature.
